Getraide starts Cross Country season strong as Reivers' lone representative

DAVENPORT, IA

Today marked the start of the 2018 XC season for the Reivers. The race took place at Crow Creek Park in Davenport, IA with the women's race starting at 11. Start time weather was a challenge for all the runners with temps in the high 80s and 80% humidity.

Neri Getraide was the lone Reiver running, but that didn't affect her performance. The race began with a strong field of women taking off to lead the pack and Neri went to the front of the pack getting out strong the first 50 yards. She then stayed in good position the rest of the race to finish with a time of 21:52 to finish 6th overall out of 43 competitors. When asked what he thought about the race assistant coach Marc Bierbaum said "I thought it was a good starting point she ran really tough from start to finish. It was extremely challenging day for everyone with a soggy ground from rain the night before and an extremely hot race day, probably one of the top 3 hottest days I've had kids race in".

The Reivers get back to work this week to get ready for the Augustana Twilight Friday August 31st.
