Reivers Open 2024 Indoor Season at the Ward Haylett Invite

Crete, Neb. - The Reivers returned to action to open up the 2024 indoor season at Doane University Ward Haylett Invitational. Leading the way on the Women's side was freshman Hailey Martin with her event win in the 60m hurdles in 9.14. Sophomore Natalie Albert also had a strong showing in the weight throw recording the #6 mark in school history with a 14.68m throw. 

On the men's side, sophomore Paul Rowden led the way of NJCAA qualifiers by winning the high jump in 2.07m. Freshman Cory Vaughn jr punched his ticket to nationals with a 2.01m leap moving to #8 in school history. Freshman Yekini Bowen qualified to nationals in two events. He won the shot put in 15.91m #6 in school history and was 3rd in the weight throw in 16.74m #4 mark in school history. Sophomore transfer Donald Lamp had a massive pr and national qualifier to move to #6 in school history in 16.57m. 

"Today was a good meet to open the season. Our newcomers gained valuable experience and our returners worked on some technical aspects," said Coach Burnett. 

The squads will next compete at the University of Nebraska Graduate Classic on January 12th-13th and Mt. Marty University Opener on January 13th.
