Reivers Dominate at Bearcat Invite

The Reivers travelled to Maryville this weekend to compete in the Bearcat Invite hosted by Northwest Missouri State. The Reivers had a great day posting twenty-one top 8 finishes on the day.

The sprints were led by sophomore Terresha Walcott finishing second in the 60m dash with a time of 7.49. That time puts her second in the NJCAA this year as well as the second best time in school history. Davion Williams had a great day qualifying for NJCAA nationals in the 60m dash running 6.80 as well as the 60mh 8.23. Micah Manning would finish right behind running 6.83 in the 60m qualifying for nationals. Andrew Brown added himself to the national list running 48.72 in the 400m dash. Chazz Brown would later punch his ticket in the 600m running a time of 1:11.71. Shariden Richardson finished seventh in the 800m qualifying for nationals in a time of 2:16.73.

Yonas Mogos led things on the distance side improving on his time in the mile breaking the school record with a time of 4:10.03. Hilda Chibet led things on the women's side qualifying for nationals in both the mile and 5k running nation leading times in both events 4:57.16 (Mile) and 17:08.71 (5k). Mercy Biwott ran the top time in the nation this year in the 3k running 10:13.92.

 

Cortney Watkins had another great weekend showing his consistency in the hurdles winning the event with a time of 8.03 in the finals. Tajean Houston finished fifth in a time of 8.15.

 

In the field events Antonia Sealy completed her first multi of the year leading the nation with a score of 3308. Women's high jump saw two of the nations best in Alliyah McNeil and Miracle Ailes battle things out. McNeil would finish with the top jump in the nation this year 1.78m while Ailes would finish with the second best jump in the NJCAA 1.75m. Tyler Missick finished fourth in the Men's High Jump with a jump of 2.00m and Roman Smith finished eighth at the same height of 2.00m.

 

The Reivers will travel to Brookings, SD this weekend to compete at the SDSU Indoor Classic Feb 11-12.
