Reivers Break Seven Meet Records At Northwest Open

The Reivers travelled to Maryville this weekend to compete in the Northwest Open hosted by Northwest Missouri State. The Reivers had a great day posting nine first place finishes on the day. Cortney Watkins started the day off on a high note breaking the facility record in the 60mh running 8.03. Teammate Michael Buchanan was right behind Watkins running a national qualifying time of 8.06. Buchanan would go on to break the meet record in the long jump with a jump of 7.41m. Tajh Hamm opened his season up on a high note breaking the meet record in the 600y run with a time of 1:11.17. Andrew Brown finished second in the event running 1:11.87. Nicholas Kiprotich led things on the distance side running the fifth fastest time in the NJCAA with a time of 8:27.65 in the 3000m run. Sophomore Nemoy Cockett had a great day in the Weight Throw finishing with the second best toss in the NJCAA 16.04m.

On the women's side Sophomore Terresha Walcott started her season off with a first place finish in the 60m dash qualifying for NJCAA nationals running 7.64. Dyandra Gray took the top spot in the 200m dash running 25.15. Nichisha Pryce opened her season up with a facility record in the 600m running 1:24.03. Cross Country runner up Mercy Biwott finished second in the 5k running a nation leading time of 17:54.46. Sophomore Alliyah McNeil led things in the field events with a meet record and nation leading jump of 1.77m in the women's high jump.

The Reivers will travel to Topeka, KS this weekend to compete at the Washburn Open January 28-29. 27 Reivers have qualified for the NJCAA Track & Field Indoor National Championships.
