Women's Golf dominates postseason Conference awards.

DES MOINES, IOWA

Iowa Western dominated the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference All-Region teams announced on Friday.  The 2018 Women's Golf Player and Coach of the Year were also announced, with the Reivers sweeping the awards.

The Reivers' Cassidy Evreniadis was named the 2018 Player of the Year after finishing first individually at last week's Region XI Championship. The sophomore, who now qualifies for the NJCAA Women's Golf Championship on May 14-17 in Mesa, Ariz., had three tournament wins this season while averaging a score of 77.00. Evreniadis is also the 29^th ranked NJCAA golfer according to GolfStat.

Iowa Western's Head Coach Derrick Thompson was named the Coach of the Year after leading the Reivers to a first-place team finish at the Region XI Championship. The Reivers finished with a team score of 1,321, which was 53 shots better than runner-up DMACC. In his fourth year as head coach, Thompson led the women's team to an fifth-place finish at last year's NJCAA National Championship. 

Reiver freshman Lisa Lied also earned First-Team honors. The Norwegian finished second at the Region XI Championship, just two shots behind champion and teammate, Cassidy Evreniadis.

Other Reivers named to all-region squads were Kim Park (2nd team) and Payton Schmidt (HM).

The Women's team will head to Mesa, Arizona after graduation, looking for a team title and to defend the individual title won last year by Sena Ersoy.  Follow @ReiverGolf on Twitter for the latest news from the National Tournaments of both Women's and Men's teams.
