Reiver Women's Bowling placed 14th out of 17 varsity teams over the November 24th and 25th weekend at the National Collegiate Team Match Games. The team, which knocked down a season-high 8085 pins for the event's 50 games—30 traditional and 20 baker—climbed one spot on Sunday on the strength of a season-high 212 baker game en route to also posting their highest average per game to date. The event, which was held in Fairview Heights, Illinois, marked the second Tier 1 in program history.
"Our theme of the weekend was focus and embracing pre-shot and post-shot routines," said Coach Doug Kuberski. "While we got out of the gates slowly, the ladies bounced back, and after game three on Saturday, performed like a top-10 team in the field for the majority of the weekend. With the fields as strong as they are, we have to maintain our intensity and focus on every shot in order to rise up the standings even more. The spare percentages rose across the board from our first four tournaments, and we are inching closer to those thresholds we set for ourselves at the beginning of the year. I'm excited for this upcoming weekend. The competitive energy is at a very high level."
Treasure Childs knocked down 999 pins over six games, including a season-high 219 game. Erica Richards posted a 985 six-game set, while Payton Ingle fired an 816 five-game set. The team logged two 200 games during baker competition on Sunday.
Both the Iowa Western women's and men's teams next compete on December 1st and 2nd at the Mustang Invitational in Sioux City, IA.
