Reiver Women Qualify for Finals Bracket in Hastings

Reiver Women's Bowling placed 8th out of 11 varsity teams over the November 17th and 18th weekend at the Bronco Open in Hastings, NE. After day one of the event, the team sat in 9th place with a 4623 total through six traditional games. On Sunday, the team climbed to 8th place to earn the final spot in the bracket finals, where they fell in two games to host and number one seed Hastings.

"This was the most demanding condition we have faced this season," said Coach Douglas Kuberski. "The ladies are expanding their versatility, as they played vastly different parts of the lane with different angles compared to our first three events. This is crucial given the variety of patterns and surfaces we will face. Even though it wasn't the result we wanted, gaining experience in match play will only help our development as a team. Our chemistry as a unit continues to increase, which is a big reason why we navigated through adversity quite well on Sunday."

Treasure Childs knocked down 1051 pins over six games to finish in 18th place overall (11th among competitors at Pastime Lanes), logging her second-straight top-25 performance. Samantha Morris posted 961 for the six games to finish 39th overall (22nd among competitors at Pastime Lanes), and MacKinzey Arnold rolled a team-high 197 game.

Both the Iowa Western women's and men's teams next compete on November 24th and 25th at the National Collegiate Team Match Games in Fairview Heights, IL.
