Reiver Women's Bowling placed 19th out of 27 varsity teams over the October 20-21 weekend at the Mid-States Championship in Wichita, KS. The competition, held at West Acres Bowl, marked the first Tier 1 event in school history.
"The ladies grew more comfortable as the weekend progressed, which showed during the baker games, so I believe they are starting to embrace the atmosphere and see that they can compete at a high level when focused and at their best," said Coach Douglas Kuberski. "They are holding each other accountable and pushing each other to be better each time, which is translating on the lanes."
"Improvement is the name of the game," added Coach Chad Goodwin. "Tier 1 events bring the best teams from across the country and I believe it was a great experience for them to build from moving forward. The lanes have been demanding and we have to be disciplined and focused on every shot."
Sarah Arbogast and Treasure Childs logged the highest individual averages on Saturday during traditional games, with Arbogast bowling a pair of 200 games and Childs rolling a 191. On Sunday during baker competition, the Reivers shot a high game of 205 and posted a high four-game set of 704 to propel the team up the standings.
