Council Bluffs, IA - Iowa Western's women upended NJCAA Division II No. 2 Kirkwood 64-62 in overtime Saturday at Reiver Arena.
"Kirkwood is always prepared, but our ladies did not quit," Reiver coach Lindsey Vande Hoef said. "Overall, I am very happy with this win."
Late free throws by Aubriana Noti helped ice the victory for the Reivers, ranked No. 19 in Division I. Zhan'e Williams led the Reivers with 20 points. Noti scored 10 points and added eight rebounds.
The victory starts a rugged week of home games for Iowa Western. Tuesday the Reivers host North Dakota State College of Science. Friday, in the Reiver Classic, the Reivers play preseason No. 1 New Mexico Junior College before ending tournament play Saturday against Labette. Tipoff for all three games is 5 p.m.
