Iowa Western shuts out Iowa Lakes

Iowa Western swept Iowa Lakes at home. Boise native, Lily Gregory, lead off the first inning by hitting her seventh triple of the season. Shortstop Tyla Lee then followed with a single that scored Gregory giving the Reivers a 1-0 lead.

 

Iowa Western did not score again until the 4th inning when freshman Madysen Kim reached first on a single. Kim advanced to second base on a wild pitch.  Allison O'Driscoll tripled to score Kim. Next, pinch hitter Cassidy Beeby grounded out to the shortstop which scored O'Driscoll and brought the lead to 3-0.

 

The Reiver defense held the Lakers to three hits and no runs scored. Sophomore Sydney Reamer threw a career high of 11 strikeouts while pitching a shutout win of 3-0. 

 

Iowa Western jumped to a quick 5-0 lead in game two. Four walks in the first inning loaded the bases early for Iowa Western. Beeby capitalized and hit a three run double. 

 

The second inning added another five runs scored on six hits, an error, and a hit by pitch. Gregory led off the third inning with a double off the wall followed by a single from Lee. Reamer also added a double to the inning which brought the score to 12-0.  

 

Defensively the Reivers allowed three hits with no errors committed.  Starter Julie Katz threw three complete innings with three strikeouts and one walk. Freshman Avery Doucet came in for the final two innings of the game, cruising with four strikeouts to finish the game in five innings. 

 

The Reivers head to Iowa Falls, IA to play a double header against Ellsworth Community College.
