Reivers sweep the weekend in OKC

Edmond, OK – Iowa Western softball had a successful weekend sweeping four games in a two-day triangular with North Platte Community College and Northeast Community College.  On Saturday, the Reivers beat North Platte 20-2 and Northeast 15-2.  They followed that up with an 11-0 win over North Platte and a 12-2 win over Northeast on Sunday.

After a slow start to the season, the Reivers have reeled off five straight wins, all via the run-rule.  "We have started playing better defense and attacking on offense, it's showing," said Head Coach Ben Greer.  On the weekend, the Reivers totaled 58 runs and only allowed six, committing just one error.  Tyla Lee and Lily Gregory led the charge over the two days.  Lee went 9-for-11 with two homeruns, ten RBI's, and nine runs scored, while stealing three bases.  Gregory was 8-13 with 7 RBI's, blasting four triples and two doubles.

Lee added this about the weekend, "It was really good to get some games in before we head down to Florida.  I think this weekend showed we are really starting to come together as a team and I am very excited to see what we're capable of."

Iowa Western will head down to Kansas City to take on Ellsworth Community College this Thursday.
