Monday Recap and Preview (8/23-8/29)

This past week the Reiver men’s soccer team played two exhibition games. On Tuesday they faced the Creighton Bluejays at Morrison Stadium. It was an exciting contest for both teams as it was the home opener for the Bluejays, and it was an opportunity for the Iowa Western men’s soccer team to compete against a Division I opponent. Creighton won the game by a score of 3-1 with the lone Reiver goal being scored by Carlos Santamaria.

On Saturday August 21st the men’s soccer team played against the Concordia Bulldogs from Seward, Nebraska. In a sunny game the Reivers won by a score of 3-1. Goals were scored by Jesus De Vicente off a free kick, and with his first touch in the game Ibrahim Conde scored one of this two goals of the day 45 seconds into the second half. 

This upcoming week will be the first two official games of this 2021 fall season. On Friday August 27th the Reivers will play against Jefferson College out of Hillsboro, Missouri. The game will kickoff at 3pm at the Reiver Sports Complex. These two teams played against each other in the spring during the Midwest District Championship Semifinal where the Reivers won that game 7-0. The following day on August 28th the #2 ranked Reivers will face off against the #11 ranked Barton CC Cougars at 3pm also to be hosted at the Reiver Sport Complex. 

On Friday August 27th before the IWCC vs Jefferson game. The #11 Ranked Barton Cougars will play the #3 Iowa Lakes Lakers at 1pm at the Reiver Sports Complex. On Saturday August 28th the Lakers will face off against Jefferson at 11am at the Reiver Sports Complex.
