COUNCIL BLUFFS, IOWA

Men's Soccer had their first entry into an exclusive club on Friday in Council Bluffs as the Iowa Western Athletic Department held their 2019 Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

Greg Timmer, from Grand Rapids, Michigan, and a member of the Reivers 2013 National Championship squad joined Kasandra Anderson (Women's Soccer), Cherelle George (Women's Basketball) & Doug Kroll (Baseball) in the Athletics Hall of Fame.

Timmer was named the 2013 NSCAA National Player of the Year after helping Reiver men's soccer win the NJCAA National Championship with a perfect 25-0-0 record.

Along with the National Player of the Year award, Timmer also earned first-team all-region honors after he commanded the Reivers' attack from the midfield by chipping in one goal and eight assists on the season.

Timmer attended Western Michigan after graduating Iowa Western and was an immediate impact player for the Broncos.

During his time in Kalamazoo, Timmer started in 31 games and was named to the MAC All-Tournament Team.

Greg played professionally after his time at Western Michigan for his hometown Grand Rapids FC as a center midfielder, earning the club's 2017 Player of the Year award. He has also played for Lansing United and the Portland Timbers.

Timmer now lives and works in Grand Rapids and coaches youth soccer in his hometown.
