Sails Up; Men's Soccer Flawless in Blowout of Scott

BETTENDORF, IA

The Iowa Western men's soccer team took on Scott Community College at The TBK Bank Sports Complex in Bettendorf, Iowa, Saturday evening. The first game the Reivers had ever played in the indoor turf complex against Scott Community College was a blowout victory that saw Iowa Western win 14-0 behind three goals from Damia Viader and two each from Fernando Zaragoza and Diego Ribeiro. Kyle Blair showed off his passing abilities with key passes and assists in four big moments and Sohya Yamamoto recorded two assists as well. The Reivers, sporting a new uniform for the first time, looked sharp from the kickoff and never looked back after scoring inside of two minutes into the game. The Reivers had 35 shots, with 25 of them on target. In comparison, Scott had just one shot late into the second half that was off target.

Sophomore transfer, Damia Viader had this to say about the performance, "Today's result is only the beginning. We have a tough week coming ahead and we just proved that we are ready for whatever hurdles come our way. I'm very happy to have scored my first collegiate hat trick and I hope I can continue to help the team in any way possible."

Jassem Koleilat and the Iowa Western defense recorded their eigth shutout of the season. The Reivers are now 10-0 overall and 4-0 in ICCAC play.

Next up, Iowa Western faces Iowa Lakes in a huge ICCAC matchup on Wednesday, October 3rd at 3pm at the Reiver Sports Complex.
