Reivers Open Conference Play With 3-0 Victory

The Iowa Western men's soccer team traveled to Fort Dodge, Iowa yesterday to take on Iowa Central Community College in their conference opener and left victorious after a 3-0 win. Eduardo Barros opened the scoring for the Reivers in the 19th minute off of a pass from Nicolas Torres. Torres added to the scoring three minutes later off of a pass from Damia Viader. Viader then finished off the scoring with one of the goals of the season after dribbling past several defenders and finding the top corner of the net from a shot outside the box in the 73rd minute. The Reivers won 8 corner kicks and put 9 of their 15 shots on target, but Iowa Central defenders did well to help keep out several more goals with goal line clearances. Reiver goalkeeper, Jassem Koleilat preserved the shutout with an exellent tip save over the bar in the first half.

Head Coach Mike Brown had this to say after the game, "I loved our commitment and dedication to our process today from everyone on the roster. In this conference, these three points on the road are huge. We are excited for our next opportunity when NIACC comes to us on Saturday! On to the next one!"

Saturday is CBSC day and all Council Bluffs Soccer Club players and families are welcome and encouraged to come out to the women's and men's games against NIACC at Lewis Central High school as we celebrate local soccer in our community. Admission is free and there will be opportunities to meet the players and take photos. The women play at 5pm and the men play at 7pm!
