Men's Golf

Matt Robinson enters his third season as the Head Men’s and Women’s golf coach after spending his first 7 years as the Assistant Coach of the golf program.

Along with his coaching duties, he is a member of the Reiver Golf Scholarship Fundraiser Committee that helps raise thousands of dollars for scholarships annually for the Reivers.

As Head Coach in season one, Coach Robinson had a over-all record of 327-103 among both the men and women's program. He coached the women’s program to the highest finish at the National Championship in program history (3rd place) and earned 'Coach of the Year' honors in the ICCAC Conference. Among the men's accomplishments, the team earned the first District Championships in program history. He graduated all members of the Sophomore class and all players went on to play at 4-year Colleges/Universities.

In his six seasons as the Assistant Golf coach at Iowa Western, Matt has coached the women's team to 5 top 5 finishes at the National Championship tournament. He coached the only women's Individual National Champion golfer in school history, Sena Ersoy in 2017. Matt has coached the women's team to 6 consecutive Region XI Championships while having 7 All-American golfers and 9 Academic All-American's.

Matt comes to Iowa Western from Treynor, Iowa where he previously served as the Head Girl’s golf coach at Treynor Community School from 2013 until 2017. His teams compiled a 138-11 record in his five years coaching for the Cardinals and in 2017 team brought home the first State Championship in program history a year after finishing as State Runner-up.  The top six players from the State Championship squad all ranked in the top 20 in the state at the end of the season. 

In 2017, Matt was named Coach of the Year in Class 2A in the State of Iowa and was District 2 Coach of the Year in 2014, 2015 & 2017. His teams consisted of 19 players achieving All-District Player honors, nine players received All-State honors, and four earned Academic All-State honors.  Along with his team setting numerous school records, Matt helped establish one of the best Southwest Iowa Girls golf programs.

Coach Robinson has worked in some capacity of the golf industry over the past 12 years, helping players with the mental aspects of the game as well as preparing them for what to expect after they graduate and move on to their future.

Coach Robinson graduated from Fremont High School in Fremont, Nebraska, and obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism and Public Relations from Midland University in Fremont where he also participated in Football and Basketball for the Warriors.

He and his wife Staci live in Treynor, Iowa with their two children, a son and a daughter, Trey and Randi.
