Reiver Men Places 1st

The Reiver Men picked up a first place finish at the Hesston Shootout this past day. The tournament was hosted by Tabor College and play was reduced to playing 36-hole all on Monday. The men posted team scores of 278-280, the lowest scores for the team this year. They finished 31 strokes in front of Central Christian who finished 2nd.

Sophomore Calen Bishop played solidly with rounds of 68-67 to capture first place individual honors by 5 strokes in front of fellow teammates Ethan Smith (69-71) and Trystan DuPlessis (69-71). Cooper Hansen (72-70) finished in the top 5 with a 5th place finish. Freshman Bowdie Fox, playing in his first varsity competition, had a solid tournament finishing in 15th spot (75-73).

"I was pleased with our performance," said Head Coach Matt Robinson. "We're starting to understand and play course management rather than just teeing it up and letting it fly. They understood when they could take advantage of certain holes and those holes that par a good score."

The team has a quick turnaround as they prepare to play in Bethany Classic playing at Sand Creek Station in Newton, KS next Monday and Tuesday.
