Reivers rally for runner-up finish at Warrior Challenge, Westenberger tied atop leaderboard

The men finished runner-up at the Warrior Challenge and Tom Westenberger finished tied for 1st to lead the team. The event was hosted by Indian Hills Community College and was played at the Preserve Golf Course in Moravia, Iowa. On day 1 the Reivers shot teams scores of 288 and 289 to finish the day at 1 over par and in 4th place. Westenberger led the team with back to back 67's and took a 1 shot lead into the final round. On the final day the men carded a 2 under par 286 to move up 2 places into 2nd. "It was a goal of ours to move up the leaderboard. We knew we hadn't played our best golf on day 1 but we were in reach of at least 2 teams. For us to bounce back on day 2 and move up 2 places was big for us," coach Thompson. Westenberger finished off the event with a 2-under par 70 and a 12-under par total tying with Maxine LeClerc of Indian Hills. Cade McCallum and Rick Van der Nat finished T12th with 3 round totals of 219. Clay Kucera also earned a top-20 finish with rounds of 76, 74 and 71. Indian Hills won the team competion with a 3 round total of 830. The Reivers tee it up again on September 24th at the Derek Dolenc Invitational hosted by the University of Soutern Illinois - Edwardsville.
