PREVIEW: Bent Tree Intercollegiate

Council Bluffs, IA

 

Three of the top six teams in the country will be competing in Council Bluffs starting October 9th. The Bent Tree Intercollegiate will consist of three rounds of golf over two days at the Bent Tree Golf Club in Council Bluffs. Six teams consisting of 37 players will compete for both the team and individual titles over the two days. Play will begin at 9:00am on Monday the 9th with both of the first two rounds being played that day. The final round will begin at 8:30am on Tuesday the 10th. At the conclusion of play the team champion and top-5 individuals will be awarded. 

 

TOURNAMENT FIELD

Iowa Western Community College (Council Bluffs, Iowa) - Ranked #4 in the GCAA Bushnell Coaches Poll and #6 in the NJCAA Coaches Poll

This will be the 4th event of the fall for the Reivers. Iowa Western has already racked up 2 tournament wins and another top 5 finish. The fall started with a win at the Midland Invitational in Oakland, Nebraska and then was followed up with a win at the Blue River Classic in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Reivers then traveled to Madison, Illinois for the Derek Dolenc Invitational hosted by Southern Illinois - Edwardsville. The Reivers finished 5th amongst a field of 16 NCAA Division I teams. 

 

Indian Hills Community College (Ottumwa, Iowa) - Ranked #1 in both the GCAA Bushnell Coaches Poll and the NJCAA Coaches Poll

The #1 team in the country will come to the Bent Tree Intercollegiate after winning its first two events. They started the season with a win at the Klocke Family Classic in Marion, Iowa. Last week at their 2nd event of the fall they bested the field at the Zach Johnson Invitational in Des Moines, Iowa. 

 

Hutchinson Community College (Hutchinson, Kansas) - Ranked #6 in the GCAA Bushnell Coaches Poll and #4 in the NJCAA Coaches Poll

The Blue Dragons have competed just once this fall at the Newman Fall Invitational in Wichita, Kansas. Hutchinson finished 6th amongst a strong field of NCAA Division II teams. 

 

Hesston College (Hesston, Kansas)

This will be Hesston's 3rd event of the fall.

 

Southwestern Community College (Creston, Iowa)

Southwestern will be competing for their 6th and final time for the fall. They have earned a 9th place finish at the Klocke Family Classic as well as a 3rd place finish at the Graceland Invitational. 

 

Southeast Community College (Beatrice, Nebraska)

The Storm from Southeast come into the Bent Tree Intercollegiate after back to back wins at the Northeastern Invitational and the McCook Invitational.
