Chad Goodwin

Chad Goodwin begins his 7th year as the Head Coach of the Iowa Western Bowling teams in 2024-25.

Chad became the head coach in December of 2018 after being hired as the program's first assistant coach when the program began in the fall of 2018.

During his six years at Iowa Western, Coach Goodwin has led the Reivers to six NJCAA National Bowling Championship appearances, Both men and womens have finished nationally in the top 5 every season after the inaugural campaign. The Reivers have earned a total of 9 NJCAA All-Americans, 5 on the men's side and 4 for the women. the Reviers program earned its first National Champion in bowling by taking home the Men Singles trophy in 2022. The Reiver women were national runners-up in the 2023 season. The Reiver men copied this result in 2024 .The highest placement in program history. 

In addition to excellence in competition, the Reivers have also proven to be formidable in the classroom.  The Reivers have earned 79 All-Region XI 1st academic team members, with an additional 38 2nd team honors.  and 23 NJCAA All-Academic positions during Coach Goodwin's six seasons. In addition to the individual awards the 20-21 women's team was awarded the NJCAA women's bowling academic team of the year. 

Before becoming a Reiver, Coach Goodwin was a four-year letter winner at the University of Nebraska-Omaha (2002-2005), where he received his Bachelor's degree before serving as an assistant coach of the Maverick women’s team in 2006.  Coach Goodwin then ventured into the business world, running his own bowling pro shop from 2006-11 before selling to and working for Tom Kelley's bowling pro shop, an Omaha bowling community staple.  

A three-time collegiate singles titlist, Goodwin has continued to add to his competitive resume, winning the 2005 Fremont Plaza Lanes Sport Challenge, the 2013 Omaha Senate TNBA Singles Championship, the 2013 & 2014 TNBA All-Events title, and the 2023 doubles winner.  Chad contributed to the squads that won the 2016, 2018, 2023 Nebraska State Team Championship along with the 2019 Nebraska state tournament title in singles. Chad won back to back Joe Tomsu memorial doubles in 2014 and 2015, while claiming the team event in 2022. He has also made five finals appearances in the Sandhills Tournament, most recently in 2018. Overall, Goodwin has rolled 39 perfect games with a high series of 889.

He received instruction from former University of Kansas standout Jesse James and Omaha & Nebraska State Hall of Famer Tom Kelley, Jr.

The Omaha native earned a B.A. in General Studies in 2006 from the University of Nebraska-Omaha and a B.S. in Business Administration in 2018 from Bellevue University.

Goodwin specializes in bowling ball dynamics, layouts, fit and has a very analytical eye which allows for quicker lane play adjustments.

Coach Goodwin is a lifelong resident of Omaha, Nebraska, and continues to live just across the Missouri River from Council Bluffs.
