Reiver Men grab Top 10 finish at team's Inaugural NJCAA Championships

Cheektowaga, NY

The Reiver Men's Bowling team knocked down nearly 12,000 pins over 2 days at Airport Lanes outside of Buffalo, New York.

In the squad's inaugural season, Iowa Western finished just outside the Top 5 in the final team standings.

The team competed in 3 games of Singles, Doubles, 6 Traditional team games, and 9 Baker games during the 2-day competition held in Airport Lanes. A consistent performance from top to bottom saw only 80 pins separate team leader Andrew Gibbs from the rest of the squad.

The Reivers' tournament highlight came in singles where Lucas Schmitz and Keaton Jones both shot a 632 for the 3 games which was good enough to place them in 4th overall, just 6 pins shy of 3rd and only 20 pins from the top spot.

"The team had their best tournament of the year. Their commitment to steady improvement can be seen in Lucas and Keaton's placement in singles and their knowledge of mistakes that they made and want to improve on", Head Coach Chad Goodwin said. "Hopefully with the experience this year they will be able to fine tune the little things for next year and make up that difference."
