Reiver Men's Bowling placed 30th out of 31 varsity teams over the October 20-21 weekend at the Mid States Championship in Wichita, KS. The competition, held at Northrock Lanes, marked the first Tier 1 event in school history.
"I'm proud of the way the team is battling," said Coach Douglas Kuberski. "They are working on changes in their physical games while competing on demanding conditions, so we understand this is a process that is going to take patience and dedication. They have the talent to compete, and they have shown flashes. It's just a matter of time until they put it all together."
"Improvement is the name of the game," added Coach Chad Goodwin. "Tier 1 events bring the best teams from across the country and I believe it was a great experience for them to build from moving forward. The lanes have been demanding and we have to be disciplined and focused on every shot."
Lucas Schmitz and Tanner Vanderheiden logged the highest individual averages on Saturday during traditional games, with Schmitz rolling a 199 and Devin Wilson posting a high game of 198. On Sunday during baker competition, the Reiver men posted a high game of 222, which was the third highest in the varsity division for game 3.
