Reivers Escape Metropolitan With Win

KANSAS CITY - The Iowa Western men's basketball team won their first true road game of the season with 86-78 victory over the Metropolitan CC Wolves. The Reivers got off to a slow start as Metropolitan controlled much of the first half. The Reivers would settle in towards the end of the 1st half and even took the lead late in the first half. Iowa Western would take a slight advantage of 41-40 into the halftime break.

In the second half, the Reivers were able to draw fouls from the aggressive Metropolitan defense. The Reivers would shoot 26 free-throws in the second half, allowing Iowa Western to gain control of the game. Iowa Western would push the lead up to as many as 12 points midway through the second half, but the Wolves would close strong and shrunk the deficit to just two points late in the contest. Fortunately, the Reivers would convert a couple of easy baskets at the rim and also made free throws late to escape with a quality road win.

Donavan Seamster led the way in scoring with 17 points. Emion Galloway put together a nice game with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Freshman guard Jadon Cool finished with 14 points and 9 rebounds.

The Reivers are 6-4 on the season and have a quick turnaround game at Johnson County tonight at 7:00 pm.
