Colby, KS -- The Iowa Western men's basketball team led wire-to-wire in their season opening game of the 2019-20 season in game one of the Colby Tip-Off Classic with an 89-70 victory over Northwest Kansas Tech; and in doing so, won the 750th game in the nationally respected men's basketball program's history.

The Reivers opened up a ten point cushion by halftime as Jake Hazuka's rebound put back in the last possession of the half gave Iowa Western a 42-32 lead going into intermission. In the second half, the Reivers pushed the lead out to as far as 28 points with a little under eight minutes left in the game; spearheaded by NCAA D1 Navy transfer Josiah Strong's 25 points in his Iowa Western debut and sophomore Iowa Western returner Caleb Huffman's 24 points. Freshman Damontrez Ruffin chipped in 10 points as the Reiver's other double digit performer.

Up next for Iowa Western will be the defacto championship game of the Colby Tip Off Classic, as the host team Colby Trojans dispelled Bethany JV by 32 points in the evening nightcap game.  Tip Time for that contest Saturday (11/2) afternoon is slated for 5:30pm.
