Council Bluffs, IA -- A sense of deja vu was prominent Wednesday evening (1/30/19) at Reiver Arena as the Iowa Western men's basketball game against Southeastern seemed to be playing by the same script as the contest was three weeks ago in West Burlington, IA when the two teams previously met; as the Reivers dropped their second game to the Blackhawks 86-72.

That aforementioned "script" was a Southeastern team getting to every loose ball and rebound early and often, while causing turnovers from the Reivers; who never seemed to answer the starting bell after a physically and emotionally draining 116-112 2OT loss just days earlier to Indian Hills. The Blackhawks opened up an early 8-0 lead and never trailed; ballooning the lead up to as high as 26 midway through the second half, en route to their 19th win of the season. Also like the previous game at Southeastern, Iowa Western did mount a late game attempt to make the game competitive and drew within 11 points with 4:10 remaining, but it was too little to late as the Reivers dropped to 18-5 on the season.

Four Reivers scored in double figures. Christian Bentley led Iowa Western with 17 points, while Parker Hazen (13pts), Caleb Huffman (12pts), and Seneca Louis (10pts) rounded out the other double digit performers. VCU transfer Tyler Maye led the Blackhawks with 19 points; who after having lost 7 straight contests to Iowa Western before this season, now has a modest 2 game sting of their own.

Iowa Western returns to the floor this upcoming Saturday evening (2/2/19), as they step out of conference to take on Cloud County of the Kansas Jayhawk Conference.  The contest between the Reivers and Thunderbirds will tip up at 7:00pm from Reiver Arena.
