Tempe, AZ -- Former Iowa Western NJCAA All-American De'Quon Lake and his Arizona State University teammates had to sit and wait; but in the end the wait added to the euphoria when CBS announced them as one of the final at-large bids for the 2018 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.

After a roller-coaster regular-season, the Sun Devils (20-11) are going to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2014. As dueling #11 seeds in the Midwest Region, the Sun Devils meet the Syracuse Orange (20-13) on Wednesday in an "NCAA First Four" contest in Dayton, Ohio. The game will be broadcast on truTV at 8:10 p.m. CST.

If Lake and his teammates win, they'll face #6 seed Texas Christian University (21-11) on Friday in Detroit.

"We started this journey this year that our goal or mission was to try and get into the NCAA Tournament," head coach Bobby Hurley said.  "We accomplished that and it's a tremendous feeling. I had the guys at my house today watching and to experience that, it's second to none. It's why you put all the work in."

ASU received their bid to the "big dance" in large part to wins over two of the tournaments #1 seeds; Kansas and Xavier early in the season.
