HOMECOMING 2017

HOMECOMING 2017

To kick off the week many of the Reiver Cheerleaders helped with preparation needed to have an exciting and successful homecoming. Groups of cheerleaders went out to local businesses and painted windows to get the community involved and aware of homecoming week. Other members helped by making banners that got put out at the game and used in our homecoming parade.

Before both the parade and football game Iowa Western has what is known as the color run. This is an event where the community comes together and can have fun running or walking while having the choice to be blasted with colorful chalk. The Iowa Western cheerleaders where at the event to not only welcome the community to the run, but to cheer on the contestants as they started the race. Following the color run all the Iowa Western athletic teams participated in a parade to celebrate homecoming. The cheerleading team had two floats decorated with banners to show not only our school pride, but the excitement we had to soon be cheering on our Reiver Football Team.

Just like at other home football games, there is always a tailgate prior to the big game. Barley's Bar and Grill prepared hot dogs and hamburgers for the community to enjoy, while the Polka Police kept the crowd entertained before the Iowa Western Spirit Squad preformed for pregame. The band and Cheerleaders got the crowd excited for the game and ready for the Reivers to secure another win. The Reivers were doing well staying ahead of the Greyhounds leading into halftime. During halftime, The Reiver Spirit Squad put together a routine where their goal was to perform well and hit all their skills. Not only did the spirit squad perform well, they also showed that they had a lot of fun during their performance and made the cheerleading team's alumni proud.
