Reivers Sweep Weekend Series vs Kirkwood

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa - NJCAA D1 No. 3 Iowa Western Baseball swept a three-game series vs NJCAA D2 No. 9 Kirkwood Community College at Doc Ross Field this past weekend.

The Reivers (32-5) took both games on Saturday, 3-0 and 11-1, then finished off the Eagles on Sunday with a 17-0 victory.

Freshman Noah Scott was dominant in game one, throwing a complete game, and scattering four hits while striking out 10 over seven innings to get his 7th win of the season.  Reese Harmon supplied most of the run support for Scott, with a 2-run triple in the bottom of the third.

Game two saw another strong pitching performance, this time from Freshman Buddy Brands.  Brands threw 7 innings, allowing one run on four hits while setting 12 Eagles down on strikes.  Iowa Western used a 5-run third inning to break the game open.

In the series finale, the Reiver bats stayed hot with IWCC launching seven home runs that led to plating three runs in the first, four runs in the second, then a six-run fifth that included a pair of home runs from Jaxon Sorenson and AJ Singer, sent Kirkwood home early in a 17-0 run-rule victory.

With the sweep, Iowa Western runs its winning streak to 15 in a row and is 15-1 at the Dr. John and Jean Marshall Complex.  The Reivers will be back in action on Wednesday for a single game at Iowa Lakes, then back at "The Doc" on Saturday for a three-game series with Marshalltown.
