Former Reiver Makes His Major League Debut

ST. LOUIS - Former Iowa Western pitcher and current San Francisco Giant, Keaton Winn became the 11th Reiver to make his Major League Baseball debut on Tuesday night vs the St. Louis Cardinals.  Winn, who had been called up to the Giants the day prior, entered the game at the start of the sixth inning and worked a solid four frames giving up just one run on one hit while striking out a pair of Cardinals to earn the save in an 11-3 victory.

"It was crazy, it was awesome, I don't even know how to describe it," Winn told the Associated Press after the game, "I still can't feel my legs."

Winn spent two seasons with the Reivers from 2016-2018 and appeared in 24 games, earning a record of 7-1 with five saves, striking out 84 batters in 57.0 innings.  The 25-year-old right-handed pitcher from Ollie, IA helped IWCC make an appearance in the 2018 JUCO World Series, earning the win in a 7-6 victory over Chattahoochee Valley in game one of the series.

Winn becomes the 4th former Reiver who was drafted and signed directly out of Iowa Western to make their MLB debut and the first IWCC alum since Erik Swanson (2019 Seattle Mariners) to make their debut.
