Reivers Sweep Indian Hills; Move Into 2nd Place In ICCAC Standings

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa - Iowa Western Baseball completed a three-game sweep of Indian Hills on Sunday afternoon.  The Reivers (34-9 | 19-9) received quality starts from each of their three starting pitchers over the weekend.  Sophomore Ethan Louthan (4-0) started the series by throwing six innings, allowing just one run on four hits. Sophomore CJ Richmond provided the offense, launching a pair of homeruns over the right-field wall to give the home team a 10-1 victory in seven innings.

Game two saw red-shirt freshman Cael Kolacia toss a gem, falling one out short of a complete game.  Kolacia (2-0) went 8 2/3 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits, while striking out four Warriors on 99 pitches.  The lone batter that he was unable to get out in the ninth inning hit a spinner off the end of the bat to the left side of Brayden Smith a second base which darted immediately to his right on the bounce for a hit.  Brayden Andersen came in to get the final out to earn the save (2) in a 5-2 victory.

Freshman Nate Moquin started game three on Sunday afternoon.  Moquin (4-2) became the third pitcher over the weekend to go at least six innings, the right-hander out of Gretna, NE threw six solid innings of shutout baseball, allowing six hits.  Andersen again would come in to shut the door on the Warriors to earn his third save of the year, defeating Indian Hills 4-0.

With the sweep, Iowa Western moves up to second in the ICCAC standings, just one game back of Iowa Central.  The Reivers are back in action on Wednesday at DMACC and then end their regular season with a weekend series at Northeast CC.
