Reivers Take All Four From Iowa Central

Council Bluffs, Iowa

The Reivers took the road to Fort Dodge for a 4-game set with the Tritons of Iowa Central. The Tritons came in as the top-rated team in Division two team in the ICCAC, while the Reivers came into the series as the top-Rated Division 1 team in the ICCAC.

Game 1, Sophomore Peyton Zabel once again set the tone for the weekend. The sophomore threw a 2-hit complete game shutout for the road Reivers. In Zabel's last two starts, he has gone complete game in both games, struck out twelve hitters, given up only six hits, and one run for the Reivers. Offensively, Iowa Western welcomed back sophomore Kyle Huckstorf, who hit a solo shot to right in the 4th to make it 1-0 Reivers. Dylan Robertson added a two-RBI single in the 5th to make it 3-0 which was all Zabel would need. Reivers win game one, 3-0.

Game 2, the Reiver offense exploded on the Tritons. Iowa Western hit four home runs in the route of the Tritons. Huckstorf got the game started in the first with his second homerun of the day, and his second leadoff home run of the year for the Reivers. Iowa Central answered back in the bottom of the 1st off Reiver starter Harrison Cook to make it 2-1 Tritons after one inning. In the 3rd, Alec Patino tied it up with an RBI single to make it 2-2. In the 4th, Jaden Brown broke the tie with a line-drive home run to left field to make it 4-2. In the 5th, Robertson made it 7-2 with a huge 3-run home run to left. Starter Harrison Cook gave the Reivers five innings, gave up two runs, and struck out five. He gave way to freshman Brant Hogue in the sixth who struck out the side, and five in two and two-thirds innings.  Freshman Michael Finan threw the last inning and two thirds to finish off the Reiver sweep of Saturday.

Game 3, Evan O'Toole once again threw a gem for Iowa Western. The Canadian gave up one hit in five innings. Five innings was all that was needed, as the offense once again attacked the Tritons. Sophomore Ben Palmer got the offense going in the 1st with a single through the five-six hole to score Huckstorf. In the 2nd, the Reivers stretched it to 6-0 with RBI'S by Robertson, Carter Wright, and Aaron Staehley. The Reivers added RBI'S by Logan Jordan, Thatcher Kozal, and Palmer again to stretch it to 12-1 in the fifth and run-rule the Tritons.

Game 4, the Reiver offense answered the bell again with 16 runs. The offense was buoyed by a multi-homerun effort by Auggie Rasmussen, including a grand slam in the 3rd to make it 6-0. Sophomore Connor Mackay, used the run support and struck out five in six innings, and gave up one hit. The Reivers ended up run ruling the Tritons in eight innings 16-6, thanks to another Rasmussen homerun, two more RBI's by Robertson, Brown, and Brady Prewitt.

With the four-game sweep, the Reivers are now 34-7, they will host Indian Hills on Wednesday at Doc Ross Field. The first pitch is set for 1 pm. Both games can be watched on the Reiver Sports Network.
