Reivers Sweep Weekend, Finish 24-0 in ICCAC Action

The Reivers cap of an outstanding ICCAC conference season finishing 24-0 following the weekend sweep of Southwestern.  Once again, the Nation Leading Pitching Staff proved itself as Iowa Western only allowed 1 run all weekend.

Iowa Western mashed 3 Homeruns in route to its 8-1 victory in Game 1Ronald Sweeny III (FR, Woodbury, MN) crushed his 2nd Homerun of the season in a 2-Run blast in the bottom half of the 1st inning.  Ross Indlecoffer (FR, Vadnais Heights, MN) homered for the 3rd time this season as he sent a solo shot over the left field wall.  Brandon Bena (SO, Omaha, NE) crushed the Reivers first Grand Slam of the season in the bottom of the 4th inning.  Tyler Reichenborn (SO, Brooklyn Park, MN), Sweeny, and Indlecoffer both ended with multi-hit games.  Jayden Kruse (RS/FR, North Platte, NE) moved his record to 6-0 fanning 6 in his 4-innings of work.  Carter Akerfelds (FR, Littleton, CO), Joseph Roecker (FR, Elkhorn, NE), and Parker Shreve (SO, Cody, WY) combined for the final 3 innings giving up 2 hits while striking out 3.

In Game 2, the Reiver offense took off as it rattled off for 11 hits in the 10-0 (5-inn) win.  Breyden Eckhout (SO, Amherst, NE) went 3-3 on the game with a 3B, and 2 2Bs while scoring three times.  Tanner Holen (SO, Manhattan, KS) finished 2-3 with 2 RBIs and a Run Scored.  Gibson Krzeminski (RS/FR, Tecumseh, ONT, Can) also added 2 hits with a 3B and his 2nd Homerun of the season as he tallied 3 RBIs.  Ben Dotlzer (SO, Ida Grove, IA) and Marius Balandis (FR, Lockport, IL) combined for the 5 inning shutout giving up 1 hit while striking out 6.

Game 3 added another shutout to the Reiver Pitching Staff Record as Iowa Western picked up the 8-0 win.  Cole Evans (SO, Columbia, MO) went 2-2 with a 2B and 2 RBIs while Kobe Hyland (SO, Spruce Grove, ALB, Can) went 2-4 with a 2B while scoring 2 Runs.  Sean Chandler (RS/SO, Bellevue, NE) moved to 9-0 on the season as he K'd 10 hitters in 5 innings.  Keaton Winn (SO, Ollie, IA) closed the door throwing the final 2 innings facing the minimum striking out 2.

Iowa Western finished the regular season with a 6-0 win in Game 4 of the weekend with Southwestern.  Ryan Sullivan (SO, Aurora, CO) went 2-2 with an RBI and a Run Scored while Krzeminski added 2 more hits and 2 RBIs to his weekend.  Indigo Diaz (SO, Vancouver, BC, Can), Eckhout, and Winn combined for the shutout striking out 10 giving up 2 hits.  Diaz moved to 9-0 on the season.

Iowa Western enters post-season play on Friday (5/11) as they open up the Region XI Tournament against Southwestern at 11am.
