Iowa Western Sweeps Indian Hills to Open ICCAC Play

In a weird 4 Game Series, Iowa Western hosted Indian Hills on Friday and Monday due to weather taking all 4 games and openign ICCAC Play with a 4-0 start.

Game 1 saw the Reivers go down 2-0 after the first inning before Sean Chandler (RS/SO, Bellevue, NE) settled in throwing 5 innings striking out 11 giving himself his 4th victory of the season.  Keaton Winn (SO, Ollie, IA) picked up his second save of the season striking out 2 in 1 inning of work.  Hagen Holmstead (SO, American Fork, UT) went 1-3 with a 3-run Homerun while Ronald Sweeny III (FR, Woodbury, MN) went 2-3 with a 2B and a run scored to lead Iowa Western to a 5-3 win.

In Game 2, the Reivers gave up 2 runs in the top of the first again before tallying up 8 runs on 9 hits to win 8-2.  Parker Shreve (SO, Cody, WY) picked up the victory in 3 innings of relief striking out 3 and giving up only 1 hit.  Tyler Reichenborn (SO, Brookland Park, MN) went 3-4 with 2 3Bs, a Homerun, and 4 RBIs while Holmstead added 2 more hits on his day going 2-3 with a 2B, a 3B, a HBP, and 2 runs scored.

2 days separated the DHs due to weather and it didn't seem to bother the Reiver pitching staff.

In Game 3, the Reivers struck out 12 Falcons giving up 1 run in the 2-1 victory. Breyden Eckhout (SO, Amherst, NE) picks up the win throwing 2 innings of relief striking out 4 before handing the ball off to Winn where he picks up his 3rd save of the season striking out 2 in his lone inning of the game.  Tanner Holen (SO, Manhattan, KS) went 3-3 with 2 2Bs and an RBI while Ryan Sullivan went 2-3 launching his first Homerun of the season.

Game 4 gave the Reivers the series sweep with a 7-0 shutout win.  Ben Dotzler (SO, Ida Grove, IA) picked up his 3rd win of the season striking out 7 and giving up 2 hits before Cole Albers (FR, Brooklyn Park, MN) finishes the game throwing 1.1 striking out 3 Falcons.  Offensively, Holen went 2-3 with a 2B, a run, and an RBI while reaching base on an error in his first at bat while Holmstead continued his weekend tear going 2-3 with a 3B, 2 RBIs,, 2 Runs, and a walk.

Iowa Western is back in action as they travel to Marshalltown for a 4-Game Series on April 7th - 8th.
