Reivers relish opportunity against Team USA

Minneapolis, MN

After five days of practice, the Iowa Western Baseball team loaded up and headed north to take on USA Baseball 18U select team at Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins.

The trip was arranged between the two squads in late spring as Reiver skipper, Marc Rardin and Team USA scheduled the two day event to coincide with the training schedule for the select team.

"It's a great honor for our guys. They competed well and were aggressive and competed hard" said Rardin

The Reivers played two scrimmages against the top 17-18 year olds in the country and held their own.

Rardin was very proud of the efforts of the team sayng, "many of our guys haven't seen live pitching in over three weeks and our pitchers threw great overall. We've been together for five days and to have the opportunities we did late in each game shows well for this group."

Iowa Western will continue it's fall training as they prepare for the 2018 season. The complete fall schedule will be posted at goreivers.com in the coming days.
