Ian Alumbaugh enters his first season as Associate Athletic Director at Iowa Western Community College. Alumbaugh's primary role is game day management and eligibility.  Prior to his role, Alumbaugh was the Director of Esports and help get the program off the ground.

A 2011 alumni of the school, Alumbaugh has previously served Iowa Western as a Student Assistant for Football (2009-2011) and an Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach (2011-2013).

Most recently, Alumbaugh worked in Student Affairs at Cowley College in Arkansas City, Kansas. At Cowley, he assisted with housing, student life, and athletic game day management. He also sponsored the Gaming Club with an interest of the team competing competitively prior to his departure in August of 2021.

Alumbaugh was hired at Cowley College as the Head Men’s and Women’s Bowling Coach in 2018 and was tasked with launching the program in its inaugural season. In his first season, Alumbaugh coached a First-Team All-American, and 4 Academic All-Americans, and the Men’s team placed 9th nationally and the Women placed 13th. Due to budget cuts, the program was cut after the completion of the first season.

Alumbaugh’s passion for gaming has been present for much of his life dating back to the earliest consoles of Nintendo in the early 90’s. He specialized in strategy and RPG titles while dedicating a large portion of his time to competitive athletics in his youth. Alumbaugh has been a long-time supporter of Esports becoming a sanctioned event collegiately and is excited to see the amount of growth in recent years.

Alumbaugh resides in Council Bluffs with his wife, Megan. Together they have one daughter, Carina (2).
