Iowa Western Nominated for The OSCAS Team of the Year

OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha Sports Commission has announced that Iowa Western Women's Soccer and Football have been named finalists for the 2024 OSCAS Team of the Year Award Sponsored by Scorevision & Score Board Media.  These are the first-ever OSCAS nominations for Iowa Western Athletics.

Both teams capped off their seasons by winning back-to-back national championships in the Fall. Women's Soccer ran through their competition to a perfect record of 18-0-0, claiming the 2023 NJCAA national championship on a golden goal by Forward Nicole Navarro Aguilar. The win marked the second consecutive national championship for the Reivers and third overall; running its winning streak to a school-record 36 victories in a row.  A full recap of women's soccer's championship run can be found here.

Iowa Western Football captured their second NJCAA national title in a row with a convincing 61-14 victory over perennial powerhouse East Mississippi at historic War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, AR.  The 61 total points finished just shy of the 66 that Northwest Mississippi posted in the 2015 NJCAA National Championship against D3's Rochester Community & Technical College. A recap of the 2023 NJCAA Football Championship game can be found here.

The OSCAS will be held on Thursday, May 30th, 2024 at the Relevant Center in Elkhorn, NE.  Tickets and voting for the event can be found at https://omahasports.org/oscas with the voting polls running from April 9th to April 26th.
