Three Reivers Named Athlete of Week by ICCAC as Fall Seasons Wind Down
DES MOINES, IA
As the Fall Sports season winds down, the Reivers continue to make their mark. Team wins for Shotgun Sports and Men's Cross Country in addition to individual wins by both Men's and Women's Cross Country runners earned the Reivers recognition by the ICCAC for the week of October 12th. Faith Linga, Yonas Mogos, and Tevin Statzer were all named Athletes of the Week by the Conference for their performances.
Faith Linga continued her dominance with another race and another win at the Indian Hills Invitational. She won the event by a resounding minute and sixteen seconds over second place. Her time of 17:10.9 still wasn't even a personal record. The Reivers are off until the Region XI Championship on November 1st in Fort Dodge hosted by Iowa Central.
Yonas Mogos led the Men's Cross Country team to a first-place at the Indian Hills Invitational on October 16 for their first team victory of the season. Mogos led the Reivers by finishing first with a time of 24:45.8, just under a five-minute mile pace and 19 seconds ahead of second place. It was his first collegiate win.
Iowa Western defeated Northwest Iowa in the last week of the 202 ICCAC Virtual Sport Shooting season. The Reivers finished the season 5-1. Statzer, a freshman from Council Bluffs, shot a 99 in IWCC's last matchup. Statzer was perfect the first round, missed his only shot in the second round, and finished 100% in the last two rounds.
