COUNCIL BLUFFS, IOWA -- There will be a new coach roaming the Iowa Western Community College soccer sidelines next fall after the recent resignation of Jordan Carver. Carver and his wife Kolay, an associate dean at Iowa Western, will move their family of five to Salt Lake City, where she will begin a new job with the University of Utah.
"It is with a heavy heart that I am resigning as the head men's soccer coach at Iowa Western," Carver said in a letter to Athletic Director Jeremy Capo. "I appreciate all of the opportunities of growth and success that have been given to me since being hired in 2008. My heart is with Iowa Western and it will always be with this institution and the men's and women's soccer programs."
Carver played one year with the Reivers before receiving his bachelor's degree from Grand View College and his master's degree from Concordia University-Irvine.
Carver served as an assistant for one season before being named the Reivers' second head coach in 2009. A year after his inaugural head coaching campaign, Carver's squad won the Region XI Championship and earned the program's first NJCAA National Tournament bid. After narrowly missing the national tournament in 2012, Carver's squad went a perfect 25-0 to capture the 2013 NJCAA National Championship. It was the first of back-to-back unbeaten seasons by the squad, as the Reivers were upended in the NJCAA semi-final round in 2014 in a shootout.
"This one is bittersweet," Capo said of Carver's departure. "I am extremely happy for Jordan and his family to have this opportunity to move back home, and understand the pain that comes with leaving behind the great program that he had been instrumental in building. It's a testament to the husband and father he is, to put his family first. We wish them nothing but the very best."
Carver leaves Iowa Western as the all-time victories leader with 171 wins in 212 contests and six NJCAA National Tournament appearances.
A national search will begin immediately to fill the vacancy.
